This is an extract from the story “Around the World in 80 Days” by Jules Verne. Read the text and answer the challenges below! Please attempt as many challenges as you can!

    He gasped from the view that he could see the window.

    Passepartout might feel sad about there relationship because in the text it says that he just got a master and that he has to travel the world with him.

    My prediction is that he will feel 60% exited because he is really good at engineering and he could win £1 million and become a millionaire and he feels 40% sad because if he loses the bet he would have to lose lots of money on paying the Colonel meals for the rest of his life!
    Gold: What can we infer about the relationship between Fogg and his servant Passepartout?
    Passepartout can help out if something bad happens, if fogg needs help and for anything really.

    I think his is very determined and excited but nervous because the 1 million is up for grabs and he could be the colonel and the major servent feeding them. This is because when he said “ We going all around the world” he was so excited.

    The servant and Phileas must help each other because they were excited but if anything goes wrong the servant will help.

    The relationship is one of them are saying that you can not go on a journey for 80 minutes and the other one is saying that he could go on a journey for eighty minutes.

    Fogg said, “I will bet £20,000 that I can travel this world!”

    Fogg feels confident because the text does not indicate that Fogg is feeling any other emotion and in the second to last line of the text, the text for Phileas is showing exclamation marks. As he is instructing Passepartout to pack up, there is no emotion showing as if he was not feeling surprised or frightened but rather as he is feeling happy .
