The organs were placed in the canopic jars to protect the organs. So in the afterlife the organs can be put back inside their bodies when they come back to life again in the afterlife. However when the heart is light on the scales then the entry to the two fields of afterlife is not denied.

    Gold:
The ancient Egyptians threw the brain away because they thought it was useless in the after life.
Our understanding of the brain is different from the Egyptians because we think this organ is very important, functional and it controls the entire human body.
