    Although you may think that desert plants need lots of water they actually can survive a little amount of water! They taste disgusting since they have salty water in them. The creosote bush sends out huge networks of roots so that it can seek out every drop of dew or rain.

    An example of a desert plant is a cactus. The cactus is very spiky and dangerous. You would not want to touch it. Cacti stores rainwater in there spiky stems.

    Silver: Plants surviving in the desert have long roots that absorb more water from the soil. Desert plants survive by very little water since cactus hold their water in their fleshy stems. They save energy by growing very slowly although it can take them a whole year to grow two tiny leaves.

Super red oat grass has a little seed which also can burrow far down below hardly burnt earth , the seed has a long tail which twists in the boiling, hot soil but helping the little seed to spiral it’s wav deep underground.

    Cactus do not have leaves they have spines that protect them from the desserts boiling extreme heat.

    In the dessert there is no water sonthe creosote Bush uses its roots to find every last drop of dew or rain water.

    There are plants in the dessert that just lie there waiting paitently for rain fall, they will then suddenly grow and flower in a burst, and sadly die dYs later.

    Some amazing plants can miraculously continue to grow even when scorching fire have completely destroyed there habitats .The fascinating red pat grass had a seed tHt can burrow deep deep down below the hot burnt earth.

    Some plants, such as gentian, mountain pinks, and saxifrages, grow on cold, high mountains. They save a lot of energy by first growing very slowly and then taking them a whole year to finally grow two tiny, fresh, green leaves.
