Plants grow from seeds because the seeds countains within themselves an embryonic plant and stored food. The seed is a result of pullition, where the ripened ouvle is protected by the seed coat, an outer covering of the ouvle.
Over a few years, one bromelida can result in an entire garden of bromelidas. Most people recieve bromelidas as a gift when there are colourful bracks rise up from the cental plant cup.
