Like if we add one ten to 14 it will be 24 so the ones will be the same the 4 ones are same.
If we add a ten in 22 the two ones stay the same and there will be three tens.
    Platium:

    Isla is correct because 70p+32p=102p
102p is the same as £1.02p
    £1.02p is bigger than £1.

    Silver
Jessica has the most because 2 tens and 9 ones is 29 and 29 is more than 27.
    Gold
Habib is right because if you adding a 10’s to any double digit number does not change the one’s.

    Silver
Jessica has the larger number because 2 tens and 9 ones is 29 and 29 is more than 27.
    Gold
Habib is right because if you have any double digit number and you add 10’s then the ones will stay the same. E.g 23 add 10 is 33
    Platinum
    Isla is right because 7 lots of 10p is 70p. 70p + 32p = £1.02

    1. Mrs Browning

      Super Maths, Safiyyah.
      Great explanations 👍🏻

  9. Faith A.

    (1) Jessica has the largest number (20+9,+29) and faith has 27.
    (2) 41, 42, 43, it can’t be outside 40 to 49 for example 31, 61, and 71.
When you add multiple of ten (10,20,30,40 50,60,70,80,90. ) you are increasing its the value in the tens column without affecting the ones column. Example if add 10+35 you get 45. The one digit(5) remains the same .
    Platinum ( 32p.7 lots of 10p
    10+20+30+10=70. 70+32=102.
    £1.02p. She’s correct.

    Number can’t be 50, 60, 70 because they don’t come within 40s.

    Gold
Yes because if you add 32+10 =42 42+10=52

  11. Fathima U.

Habib is right because when you add ten only the tens place changes

  12. Rishaan C.

    Bronze
    It can be 41 43 and 45
    It can’t be 31 23 11 because they don’t have four tens.

    Silver
Jessica has the largest number because her 2 tens and one 9s equals 29. Faith is 27 ones equals 27.

    Gold
Habib is right because 11 plus ten equals 21
    21 plus 10 equals 31
    An
And 31 plus 10 equals 41 and so on.

    Platinum

Isla is correct because 7 tens equals 70 and 32p totals together 1 pound and 2p.

  13. Ameya R.

    Bronze:
Numbers with tens are 40, 41, 42, 43. Number 4 is in the tens place for all numbers from 40 to 49
Examples for numbers that cannot have 4 in tens place are 10, 20, 50

    Silver:
    Faith has 27 ones = 27
    Jessica has 2 tens (10+10 = 20) and 9 ones = 9. That is 20 + 9 = 29
27 < 29. Therefore, Jessica has the largest number.

    Gold:
Yes, Habib is right, when 10 is added to any number, the number in ones place always remains the same, because any number added to zero will give the same number.
Example: 11+ 10 = 21, the number in ones place is the same, which is 1 when added to 10.

    Platinum:
    Isla has 32p
    She got 7 lots of 10p, (10p+10p+10P+10p+10P+10p+10P = 70p)
Now she has 32p + 70P, which makes it 102p
    100p = £1
    102p = £1 + 2p
Isla is correct, she has more than £1.

    1. Mrs Browning

      Well done, Ameya!

  14. Pugalini K.

    PLATINUM

Isla is correct, because she has 102Pence which is greater than £1.(100 pence is equal to £1)

    32P

    7 lots of 10 = 70P

    32P + 70P = 102P , which greater than 100P (£1) so she is correct.

    Thank You.

Yes he is right because when you add tens to any number, the ones digit remain the same. When you add multiple of ten (10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90) you are increasing its place value in the tens column without affecting the ones column. For example if you add 10 to 35 you get 45. The ones digit (5) remains the same.
