RW – Computing Week.

We have had a very exciting project week this week! We have been learning about animation and have worked together to animate the story ”MonkeyCow”. This story is all about how to stay safe online and the importance of keeping your passwords safe and secret.

Creating a setting.

The children worked collaboratively to create a backdrop for their animations. They looked carefully at the settings in the book MonkeyCow and recreated these.

Making puppets.

The children identified who the characters are in the story. They looked carefully at the book to create their own puppets to animate.

Our animation.

The children worked together to animate their puppets in the correct order to retell the story. They then used the book to help them to narrate the story.

The history of animation.

The children looked at the history of animation. They watched a Mickey Mouse animation from the past and one from present day. We discussed the similarities and differences between these two animations and the children spoke about what they noticed.
