The Pupil Premium was introduced in April 2011 by the Coalition Government. It is allocated to children from low income families who were known to be eligible for free school meals in both mainstream and non-mainstream settings, and children who had been Looked After by the Local Authority continuously for more than six months.
Schools are free to spend the Pupil Premium as they see fit. However they are responsible for how they use the additional funding to support pupils from low income families and other target groups. This money is allocated to initiatives which help to ensure pupils reach their full potential both academically and socially.
At Broad Heath, we do all we can to support all our pupils make the very best progress. We do this by providing high quality classroom teaching supplemented by interventions to support vulnerable learners as and when required
The Pupil Premium Grant received by the school has been used to improve pupils’ opportunities, attainment and progress by helping them to overcome barriers to learning.
