For your reading challenge this half term, read through the following non-fiction text about rainforests.

    1. There are two types of rainforests, tropical and temperate.
    2. The tropical is near the equator than the temperate rainforest.
    3. 25% of natural medicines have been found in the rainforest.

    2. The animals use loud calls to communicate because they cannot see each other in the thick leaves.
    3. Why has the author written the word ‘damp’ in brackets in the ‘Forest Floor’ section? The author wrote the word damp to explain another word for humid.

    In my opinion the rainforests are important because it gives oxygen to the world and so animals can also live.

    My opinion is that we could never stand a chance without rainforests. I think this because trees and plants do a thing where they take our carbon dioxide and transform it into oxygen. We breath oxygen and plus 70% of cancer medication is found from plants in tropical rainforests .

    It’s damp because the soil has a moisture in it.

    The leaves also give oxygen so without trees we can breath with bushes and all type stuff with leaves.

    12. The Amazon is the 2nd longest river in the world.
    13. The Amazon has over 1,000 different species.
    14. The Amazon covers a lot Brazil.
    15. Animals like howler monkeys are territorial .
    16. Animals that live in the canopy are Eagles.
    17. In the Amazon, it rains every day in the Amazon.
    18. When trees in the Amazon dry up the canopy dries up first .
    19. The trees in the Amazon are very tall.
    20. In the Amazon rainforest some animals dive into rivers to get safe.
    21. In the Amazon birds can climb when they go in the water.
    22. In the Amazon, there is dangerous animals like snakes, jaguar’s and tigers too.
    23. The Amazon trees branches are super long.
    24. Animals do loud calls in the rainforest because the Amazon is so big.
    25. Predators copy Other animals sounds then they can have a appetite.
